Interim CMO·Marketing for high-growth, compliance-heavy businesses

I build and scale fast-moving digital consumer businesses in categories where the regulation is ambiguous, shifting and tightening by the month.

The through-line

Every business I have led marketing for sells something regulated, complicated, or both, to a mainstream consumer, at speed. iGaming, CFD trading, digital assets. You cannot advertise where you want, acquisition economics are punishing, trust is the product, and a regulator or a platform can rewrite the rules mid-quarter.

The growth playbook that works in unconstrained consumer software does not survive contact with these markets. Knowing which parts still apply is what I am hired for.

Where I fit best

Funded start-ups and scale-ups that have product-market fit but no marketing rails built to scale.

How I work

4 to 6 weeks

Diagnose and define

Positioning and message architecture. Segments. Go-to-market, launch sequencing, monetisation and unit economics. Channel strategy and budget model. The regulatory and platform constraints that decide what is possible. Targets, and the measurement behind them.

3 to 6 months

Build the capability

Org design and hiring. Process, tooling, attribution and reporting. Agency and partner selection. Campaigns run in flight, so momentum holds while the function is built.

Defined end date

Supervise to handover

I run it, then hand it to the marketing leader I hired, against a named milestone.

Fixed scope

Or a single project

Where a marketing function exists but one thing needs a senior owner: a product launch, a brand campaign, a market entry, a sponsorship or event programme. Fixed fee, defined end.

Engagements are priced by phase with defined deliverables, not by the hour. The minimum engagement is the four-week strategy sprint.

The function I build is a human–AI hybrid

What an agent should own, what a person should own, and where the handover sits is now a first-order question in marketing org design, rather than a tooling decision taken afterwards. It changes the headcount plan, the seniority mix, the process map and the cost base. Fewer people doing production, more people doing judgement, and workflows built around agents rather than retrofitted to them.
